November 2025
The Weir Garden trees have almost lost their leaves. The gardens take on a different look at this time of year, and not because of the colours. They feel vast, open spaces, and the trees become the stars of the show.
The weeping willows are still green, and the maples red. They must surely lose their leaves soon, as it’s only a little over 3 weeks till Christmas!
The river views, for most of the year obscured by greenery, can now be fully appreciated.
The iconic view that the garden is renowned for.
The extreme elbow bend of the river is now revealing why the massive river wall was necessary, presumably to prevent bank erosion.
The days are shorter, and with the winter sun sitting so low in the sky, today was a perfect day to capture reflections in the water.
But for me, I’ll always be drawn to the trees.
I lucked out with the weather this weekend as both days, though chilly, rewarded me with glorious sunshine and blue skies.
