From story to studio, this is where I put paint to paper, and the magic happens.

Meet the Author, & Wildlife Artist

“With a passion for wildlife and inspired by their stories, I share nature’s beauty through my wildlife art and children’s books.

“Through detailed watercolour and gentle storytelling, I introduce young children to the animals who share our world - nurturing empathy from the very beginning.

“Whether set on a windswept ocean or in a British garden, each children’s book begins with close observation and a deep respect for the animal at the heart of each story.

“My animal stories immerse children in nature, encouraging them to play an active role in conservation, and feeding their curiosity of the natural world.

“I’ve got lots of animals to write about, so I hope you will subscribe or follow, so I can let you know when I am about to publish a NEW BOOK!

“Thank you for visiting my website.”

Warm Wishes, Helene

The National Trust Weir Garden

When I’m not writing and illustrating, you may find me at The Weir Garden.

Scenic view of a river from the National Trust weir garden, with sunlight reflecting off the water, surrounded by green fields, trees, and a wooden footbridge in the foreground on a clear day.

The Weir Garden is a riverside garden in Swainshill, just a few minutes drive from Hereford.

It’s my zen space. A place to relax, wind down and recharge your batteries. Visitors describe it as ‘Incredible’, ‘Absolutely Beautiful’, ‘Stunning’.

A riverside scene at the National Trust Weir Garden, with a grassy bank, some fallen branches, and a slow-moving river bordered by trees with changing leaves, under a clear blue sky.
A bench, overlooking the river at the National Trust weir garden, and colourful fall foliage in the foreground, under a partly cloudy sky.
Tree branches with green leaves hanging over a peaceful river with reflections of trees and sky, at the National Trust weir garden.

It’s not your average National Trust property, with no grand mansion. But the raw beauty of the gardens and parkland are breathtaking.

A serene scene at the National Trust weir garden, of a large, leaning willow tree beside a river, alongside a boathouse covered in moss, surrounded by green grass and leafless trees under a blue sky with some clouds.

A pastoral scene at the National Trust weir garden, with sheep grazing in a green field, a large leafless tree, and a clear blue sky.
Two large leafless trees at the National Trust Weir Garden, on a grassy hill under a blue sky with scattered clouds.

I will be sharing its beauty on The Weir Garden Blog, so if you don’t get the chance to visit, you can immerse yourself in the pictures to your heart's delight.

It’s a real hidden gem, so don’t tell everyone about it, as they’ll all want to come!
