Artist Statement

Through storytelling and watercolour, I explore the fragile relationships between wildlife and the changing environments they inhabit. My work focuses on declining and overlooked species, sharing their stories in ways that are accessible, gentle and quietly hopeful.

Rooted in close observation of the natural world, my paintings often emerge from narrative — whether within the pages of a children’s book or as standalone works. I am particularly interested in the small lives that exist alongside us: seabirds drifting over vast oceans, pollinators moving through garden borders, creatures whose survival depends upon the choices we make.

By combining illustration with environmental awareness, I hope to nurture curiosity, empathy and a sense of responsibility in both young readers and adult viewers — inviting them to look more closely, and to care more deeply, for the wild world around them.
