Did you know the cheetah can hunt at night?
Cheetahs are primarily daytime hunters as their vision is adapted for ‘high-clarity’ long-distance, high-speed hunting. They face severe competition from competing prey, such as the lion, leopard and hyena, who not only compete for prey, but may steal their catch or kill them.
So when competition is fierce or the weather too hot, the cheetah may hunt in bright moonlight.
You may have noticed, but wild cats are a passion of mine. For this cheetah I wanted to work only in black , so I used charcoal. However, I couldn’t resist adding a splash of colour to bring out the eyes.
For the purists out there, the print is also available in pure black and white.
